Liberty Hall Museum is offering several holiday spirit this December

Joanna Kristine Ninal, Staff Writer

As the year comes to a close, do not forget that December is a month full of eventful festivities, as Liberty Hall Museum (LHM) at Kean University will host holiday events that everyone is welcome to participate in.

Take a look at what LHM has to offer:

  1. Toys Through Time: The History of American Fun Exhibit -- Every Monday through Saturday in December from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. come experience this exhibit, which features five rooms with interactive and hands-on features for people to take part in. The toy collection ranges from the years 1850 to 1950 and includes a plethora of toys such as board games, dolls, trucks and so much more. Although this exhibit is targeted to the younger audience, parents and grandparents should come by to revisit their childhood and see some of their old favorite toys or games. Adults admission is $12; seniors, college students and children (three years old to 17 years old) are $8; and LHM Members, Kean University students and faculty have free admission. This exhibition will be available throughout the month of December. More information can be found on the LHM website.
  2. Christmas in Toyland Christmas Tours -- Every year, LHM transforms the first floor of the museum into a time machine where visitors have the opportunity to enjoy board games from the past, such as Monopoly or Candyland. The tour opened up on Friday, November 25, 2016, and will run every Monday through Saturday in December from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tour will be the final event of LHM's Toys Through Time: The History of American Fun exhibit. The admission fee for adults is $12; Kean University alumni is $10; seniors and children (three years old to 17 years old) are $8; and children under three years old, Kean University students, faculty and LHM members are free. More information can be found here.
  3. Breakfast with Santa -- Do not miss the chance to have breakfast with Santa on Sunday, December 18, 2016. All are welcome to partake in the museum's hot breakfast buffet, which will fill anyone with Christmas cheer and get them in the holiday spirit. Naughty or nice, come make a reservation to eat with Santa and take a photo with him in his sleigh. Reservations are required by Monday, December 12, 2016, so do it now if it has not sold out already. The only available session is the one that runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The program fee is $25 per child and $30 per adult. More information on how to reserve spots can be found here.

LHM is also a drop-off location for Toys for Tots through Friday, December 15, 2016, so feel free to bring in any new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls between the ages of one to 16 years old as a donation when visiting the museum.

For student groups and organizations that are participating in Toys for Tots, donation boxes are available at LHM.

All donations must be delivered by 12 noon to ensure the Christmas joy and experience for the children. For more information, email Lacey Bongard, coordinator of museum programs at Liberty Hall Museum, at bongardl@kean.edu
