Many students say that the best way to have a great time during college is to get involved on campus. Well, one way students can be involved on campus is by joining a Greek organization.

For those who do not know much about Greek life, the Greek Senate will host Meet The Greeks on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Harwood Arena.

Meet The Greeks will help students understand what it really means to be a part of Greek life. Being a member of a Greek organization does not mean a life of partying, as some may be led to believe. Greek organizations follow a foundation of five pillars: brotherhood and sisterhood, leadership, scholarship, community service and social life.

Students who are a part of a Greek organization learn many skills that will stay with them throughout their entire lives, including the development of leadership and interpersonal skills and community service promotion.

This event is the best way for students, especially transfer and freshman students, to learn about the Greek organizations Kean University has to offer. There, students can learn about each organization individually, as each fraternity and sorority will have its own table.

There are 31 Greek organizations to choose from and any one of those organizations can be the right fit. Throughout the event students will see many of the organizations perform, as many take the stage to stroll, step or do a salute.

To attend the event, students must bring a Kean University identification card (I.D.). Non-Kean University students must provide a state issued I.D., such as a driver's license or a military I.D. For all Kean University students, the event is free with a Kean University I.D. For Kean University alum and non-Kean University students, entry will cost $5.

All proceeds will go to the Kean Dance Marathon (KDM), which helps raise money for the Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, N.J.

The event will be held in the D'Angola Gym at Harwood Arena. For safety reason, backpacks or large bags are not permitted in the gym.

There will be snacks and drinks at the event for purchase.

Being a part of Greek life can be very rewarding. So do not miss the chance to be a part of a great organization.

Come to Meet The Greeks and become a part of an everlasting experience.
