Apply to be an alternate student trustee

The Board of Trustees is looking for candidates to fill the position of Alternate Student Trustee. Students interested in the two-year position can start applying now. 

All completed applications must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs by the deadline of Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. 

The requirements to be considered for the position are:

  • Must be 18 years old and a United States (U.S.) citizen
  • Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 and completed at least 30 credits with at least 15 of those credits completed at Kean University
  • Any graduate students who want to apply as a student trustee must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 12 credits at Kean University
  • Obtain 50 signatures in order to be nominated 
  • Must be available to serve for two years 

The candidate who is elected as Student Trustee will serve for two consecutive years, beginning as an alternate member of the Student Trustee Board during the first year and as a voting member the second year. The elected Student Trustee will begin their first term on Saturday, July 1, 2017, and conclude the term on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

Student Trustees are members of the Board of Trustees Student and University Affairs Committee and the Kean University Student Leadership Council. Student Trustees also participate in deliberations of the board while attending public meetings. 

The Student Trustees are also required to meet with the vice president of Student Affairs, as well as Student Organization (the full-time undergraduate student government) and the Graduate and Part-Time Student Council (GSPC).
