Find some artwork on campus and snap a selfie

Sara Ridgway

A student does not have to be an art major to have their masterpiece hung on the outside walls of the Helen Burger Gallery in the Center for Academic Success (CAS).

The biggest craze sweeping social media is the rise of the selfie. Kean Galleries is now encouraging students and staff to submit selfies taken with a piece of artwork found on Kean University's campus from now through Monday, May 1, 2017.

There is plenty of artwork to choose from, whether it be work on display in the multiple campus galleries, paintings found in hallways and offices of various buildings or the many outdoor sculptures.

A collage will be created with the compilation of Kean Art Selfie's.

Selfies serve as an expression of self confidence and self love, so why not share that with the Kean community?

Why selfies? Kean Galleries is using this as an opportunity to build awareness of the galleries and artwork that is available on Kean University's campus, in hopes of strengthening the overall campus community.

To submit Kean Art Selfie's, those interested can email artselfie@kean.edu or use the hashtag #keanartselfie on Instagram. Those who submit a selfie will have the opportunity to win a Barnes & Noble gift card.

Make sure to follow the Kean Art Selfie Instagram page @keanartselfie, as the winners will be announced there.

Those with questions can contact Kean Galleries by emailing galleries@kean.edu or calling (908) 737-0392.

In a mass email sent to the Kean University community, there is a disclaimer that those entering should be aware of:

Disclaimer: By submitting to Kean Art Selfie, you are authorizing Kean University to use, reproduce, exhibit or distribute your photograph in any medium without compensation. All subjects in the selfie must consent to submission of photo. Photographs that are deemed inappropriate will not be used.
