Want to become a student leader on campus?

Kean University's Student Organization (the full-time undergraduate student government) applications were made available on Friday, February 3, 2017, and must be submitted by 2 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017. 

For those interested, there is still plenty of time to apply for a position and become a part of the election process. 

Through the positions within Student Organization, students gain hands-on experience by taking on leadership roles. They will leave with valuable skills applicable to the professional world after graduation. 

Officer positions available on the Executive Board include: 

  • Executive President
  • Executive Vice President
  • Vice-President of Funded Groups
  • Vice-President of Programming
  • Vice-President of Kean Ocean
  • Treasurer
  • Assistant Secretary
  • Senior Class President
  • Junior Class President 
  • Sophomore Class President

Officer positions available for individual class councils include:

  • Sophomore Vice-President
  • Sophomore Treasurer
  • Sophomore Secretary
  • Junior Vice-President
  • Junior Treasurer
  • Junior Secretary
  • Senior Vice-President
  • Senior Treasurer
  • Senior Secretary

There are nine representative positions available for the senior, junior and sophomore class, which students can also apply for. Kean Ocean has five available representative positions open as well.

Sara Ridgway is double majoring in a marketing and communication with a concentration in media and film. She works as a Staff Writer for The Cougar’s Byte. Now entering her junior year at Kean University, Ridgway is currently honing her skills as she prepares for a career as a reporter upon graduation. In addition to being a well-rounded student, Ridgway has a variety of interests outside of the classroom. Ridgway plays for the Kean University women's volleyball team and also enjoys snowboarding, photography and other outdoor activities. She also has aspirations of travelling the world and working as a reporter abroad.
