As Kean University approaches the mid-point of the spring 2017 semester, the university reminds students about the status of their meal plan.

In a mass email sent to students on Saturday, February 25, 2017, it was stated that students using the KB-96 and Unlimited meal plans should be aware that any unused Cougar Dollars at the end of the spring semester will be forfeited. There are no refunds for unused Cougar Dollars.

Since last spring, students are no longer limited to using their Cougar Dollars on campus, as a variety of off campus locations accept them as well. With the addition of Smashburger and Auntie Anne's on campus, there are even more options for students to utilize their meal plans.

At the close of the spring semester, students using the $1,500 Cougar Dollar plan have a maximum refund available of $500 for unused funds, issued only after balances on their student accounts have been settled.

On campus, Cougar Dollars are accepted at:

  • New Upperclassman Residence Hall Dining Hall
  • Miron Student Center Food Court
  • The Cougar's Den
  • Jersey Mike's Subs
  • Starbucks (Center for Academic Success and Library)
  • Smashburger
  • Auntie Anne's

Off Campus, Cougar Dollars are accepted at:

  • Applebee's on Morris Avenue in Union, NJ
  • BonChon on Stuyvesant Avenue in Union, NJ
  • Koki Buffet on Galloping Hill Road in Union, NJ
  • Rockin' Joe's on Green Lane in Union, NJ
  • Tropicana Diner on Morris Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ

Another reminder by the university is that students are not allowed to use Cougar Dollars for the following:

  • Cash Advances
  • Tobacco
  • Alcohol
  • Lottery Tickets
  • Money Orders

Students should check the balances on their meal plans in order to know the status of their Cougar Dollars and meal swipes left. More information about student meal plans can be found at the Kean University website
