The Center for Leadership and Services's (CLS) Leadership Institute will be hosting an event this April to help raise money for Kean Dance Marathon (KDM). KDM, for those who do not know about it, is a fundraising dance marathon that last for 12 hours, from 12 noon to 12 midnight, and is hosted by the Greek Senate.

KDM helps raise money for the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside with a goal this year of $40,000. And to help out the Greek Senate with its goal, the Leadership Institute's Silver Program will be hosting the art auction night, Art Night. It will occur on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Cougar's Den located in the Miron Student Center (MSC).

"For Art Night we are planning on having an auction of student donated art works, raffle baskets, performances and free food," commented Leanne Manna. Manna is a junior majoring in history and a Leadership Specialist for Leadership Institute.

Students who draw, paint or take photos should consider submitting their work to have it auctioned during the event. Leadership Institute will accept all art submissions up until the day of the event. Any students who would like to submit his or her artwork should come to MSC room 215 where one will fill out paperwork to submit along with his or her artwork.

Throughout the night students should expect to not only have fun raising money for a great cause, but to see tons of their classmates performing.

Expect to see "musicians, dancers and [students performing] slam poetry," Manna commented.

If any student would like to perform that night, he or she can sign up for a slot by visiting room 215 in MSC or email the Leadership Institute at leadershipinstitute@kean.edu. Performance slots are limited and are on a first come first serve basis.

The event costs $1 to enter. Any attendees will also get a raffle ticket and a chance to win one of the many raffle baskets.

"Students should come to the event to have a fun night to brighten up the middle of their week," Manna said. "They should also come out to see all the amazing talent that their peers have!"

For more questions about the event please contact the Leadership Institute by phone at 908-737-5182, email at leadershipinstitute@kean.edu or visit the Leadership Institute in MSC room 215.
