Whether the MSC is a place for socializing, relaxing or eating it can be a beneficial place to be productive.

In need of a place to study, a place to relax or food to eat? The Miron Student Center (MSC) is a building that provides all of these necessities for its students, faculty and guests. 

The MSC is home to the game room, satellite bookstore, The Cougar's Den, food court which includes Smashburger, Jersey Mikes, Auntie Anne's Pretzels and the Little Theatre. Aside from entertainment and food options offices such as the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct, Student Government and the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) are placed.

To better assist students and guests, the information desk is located in the center of the atrium where they can provide knowledge concerning many of the assets in the MSC.

The information desk hours are as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8 a.m. – 12 a.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

When walking into the MSC atrium one can visit the computer lab. As a university that understands the importance of helping students succeed, the computer lab is a tool that students are encouraged to use.

Inside the computer lab are 50 computer stations that are equipped with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Google Chrome and other network functions. Any student, faculty and staff are welcome to use this facility as a study area, conveniently located on the first floor, Room 105.

The only requirement is a Kean University ID that must be shown to lab attendants before the use of the computers.

Hours are as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Besides the Barnes & Noble bookstore located in Green Lane, a satellite bookstore is suitably placed in the MSC as well. Students are able to buy Kean gear and other essential items.

Hours are as follows:

  • Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The Game Room supplies a recreational space that seeks to be a fun atmosphere with many activities available. As a social setting, it also enhances the interactions between students of different academic disciplines, cultural and social economic backgrounds, and experiences.

Hours are as follows:

  • Mon through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

So what eateries are available in the MSC? Smashburger is an innovative restaurant that desires to combine exceptional service, speed and convenience. Students can purchase burgers, sandwiches, salads, wraps and milkshakes.

Hours in the spring and fall semesters are as follows:

  • Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Jersey Mike's is an American sub sandwich chain that has made its way to campus and believes that quality is important when serving their customers. Students can choose between hot or cold sandwiches, varieties of meat, veggies and other toppings.

Hours in the spring and fall semesters are as follows:

  • Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Auntie Anne's is a pretzel chain that seeks to offer students different varieties of pretzels. Students can choose between a wide spectrum of dips, pretzel dogs, beverages and frozen drinks upon entering the establishment.

Hours in the spring and fall semesters are as follows: 

  • Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
  • Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There are also various stations around the cafeteria that cater to the interests of certain students including Pasta Plus, Green Zebra, Breakfast Grill, Grilled to Perfection, Salad Bar & Fresh Fruit, Sonos, Pizza and Entrees, Chef’s Corner, Tex Mex, Breakfast & Bakery, grab-and-go items, and a full line of beverages, including the Better for You Beverages: Fair Trade & Organic line.

Aside from the dishes and cuisines that are available in the cafe, students can venture into the Cougar's Den where they have a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. They serve a range of food from chicken tenders, wraps, burgers and pasta. Students can also purchase specialty drinks like smoothies with plenty of ingredients. 

An important part of the MSC is the Little Theatre, it is a space that is used to tackle on tough and interesting topics such as campus safety, tuition and fees and other issues that can benefit its students. 

If one is interested in expanding their experience at Kean University, visiting the MSC whether for socializing or employment can be beneficial.
