Kean Day, an annual event here at Kean University, is fast approaching. This year, it will be taking place Friday, Sept. 13 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. along Cougar Walk and will be hosted by the Miron Student Center. Anyone searching for a new club or organization to join or just looking to meet some new people is encouraged to come over and enjoy the day.

For those who are unaware, Kean Day is an event where different student groups, clubs and Greek organizations at Kean University come together to represent themselves and gain some new recruits in the process. It is also a way for people who want to be involved on campus, but do not know how to, to get an idea of where to start.

Every organization will have tables set up along Cougar Walk with activities and information for students to look through as they learn about the exciting things Kean has to offer them besides classes.

Roshorn Shivers, president of Kean Dance Theater (KDT) and a staff member of the Miron Student Center explained that the importance of the event is not only to help students discover what's new and what to do on campus, but it is also a way for them to involve themselves with the community more throughout the year.

"Kean day is a day where all of the student groups and Greek life organizations come together to table and represent their organization, " said Shivers. "Everyone from the Kean community comes out to find out what's new on campus and what groups they can get involved in whether it be a student group a fraternity or a sorority."

The day is especially for students looking to broaden their experience on campus. It also encourages students to meet new people and foster excitement for the coming academic year.

Shivers said, "It's really taking that step forward to get involved here at Kean."

Kean Day is about building excitement and interest in campus life. Even just coming out to learn about different groups, enjoy activities and spend time with friends is welcomed and encouraged.

Kean Day is the perfect way for everyone to get a good idea of what they want their time at Kean to look like, so students should be prepared to have fun, be opened minded and take a step into getting closer to the Kean community.
