Graduates reflecting on what they accomplished during their time at Kean.
Jaclyn Lukas, Staff Writer

Graduation is one of the most special moments in a young adult's life. The day that all of their hard work for the past four or more years pays off and they can start their life out in the world. After walking across that threshold, there is a world of opportunities open, just waiting to be seized.

Graduate and undergraduate students who are planning to graduate must complete an online application on KeanWise to be considered for graduation. Students who are eligible to apply will receive an email from the Office of Registrar

Only online applications and payments will be accepted (no hard copies) and there will be a one hundred dollar fee collected at the time of submitting your graduation application. Before applying you must review the policies and procedures, dedicated to your current academic status, on the graduate page. Be sure to meet with your advisor or program coordinator to determine if you are on track for graduation.

How to apply:

  • Log in to KeanWise

  • Go to the Academic Profile section

  • Select apply for Graduation

  • Complete online application

  • Pay $100 fee

Graduation ceremonies for 2021 will be held in-person in a series of ceremonies from May 12 to 16 at Alumni Stadium, Kean University, Union Campus. Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students will be invited to participate.

Number of tickets for each student to bring guests will be determined based on State and Federal Health Guidelines. COVID-19 protocols will be strictly followed; including capacity restrictions, social distancing and face covering requirements.

Director of Commencement and Event Services, Valerie Winslow said, “Students and their guests will be required to wear masks and do a self-check before coming to the campus to make sure there are no COVID-19 symptoms. Temperature checks will be conducted on graduating students, guests and employees who will be attending the commencement ceremonies. The seating areas for students, guests and the platform will be disinfected before and after each ceremony.”

All of the ceremonies will be live streamed for guests or other members of the Kean community who are unable to attend in person. Anyone not attending the in-person ceremony will be able to access the ceremonies from the Kean University main website page.

Commencement regalia will be delivered to the graduating students using a postal service. For safety precautions students will not be permitted to come to campus to pick up their regalia.

May 2021 applications are due by Feb. 1 and August 2021 applications are now open, due by March 5th.

Winslow said, “Everyone is looking forward to having a successful and safe commencement event. Kean University will abide by NJ state regulations on in-person gatherings for the safety of our graduates, their guests and the employees staffing the event, which is always a top priority.”

If there are any questions or concerns regarding commencement, students can email: regme@kean.edu or by phone at (908) 73-REGME.
