With the Lunar New Year coming up, P.U.L.S.E. has planned an event at Kean to help students celebrate and learn about the traditions of the holiday.

The event is being held on Fri, Feb. 12 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This will be a virtual event to ensure that any student that wants to participate can.

At the event, students can expect to be educated on the Lunar New Year, how people celebrate it and the Asian culture.

Additionally, students can look forward to giveaways at the event. For example, the first 25 students to join the event and stay until the end will receive a free t-shirt.

For more information on the Lunar New Year Event, be sure to check out the Cougar Link event page and P.U.L.S.E.’s Instagram page @keanpulse.

The Lunar New Year is a holiday celebrated in several Asian countries and marks the first new moon of the lunisolar calendar. This year’s Lunar New Year begins on Fri. Feb.12, the same day as the P.U.L.S.E. event.

There are many themes that coincide with the Lunar New Year, such as luck, health and fortune. The several daylong celebration focuses on reuniting with loved ones as well as celebrating and welcoming new beginnings. There are many traditions that people celebrate with the holiday, from distributing red envelopes to loved ones to the lion and dragon dances.

To learn more about these traditions and more, be sure to join the Lunar New Year virtual event hosted by P.U.L.S.E.

P.U.L.S.E. stands for Programming for Unique and Lively Student Experience, which is a student-led programming board at Kean. Their goal is to help build community and involvement across the campus and within the Kean community.

They are dedicated to enhancing the programming experience at Kean to help benefit the student body and allow students to have a better collegiate experience.
