Student Affairs is accepting applications for those interesting in being a Student Representative to the Kean Universtiy Board of Trustees

The Vice President of Student Affairs, Matthew Caruso, is accepting applications for students aspiring to act as a Student Representative on the Kean University Board of Trustees. With this position, willing candidates can act as a representation of the Kean student community and help to make changes happen at the university.

Student Affairs aims to create an educational experience for the students at Kean University. This organization looks to further the development of all students as well as helping them gain leadership skills through clubs and programs. The division encourages students to have many opportunities to achieve success through academic resources and social experiences. 

This year is an election year for the Board of Trustees who are currently seeking two active student representatives to join their committee. Any participant willing to apply must be aware that this role is a two-year commitment. With this position, a student is expected to act as an alternative member during the first year and a voting member for the second. 

As a member of the Board of Trustees, students will have the responsibility of contributing to committee meetings. Furthermore, a student representative will act as a connection between the student body and the Board of Trustees. With this role, the interested candidate will be able to speak on behalf of their fellow classmates and others within their Kean community.

In order to apply for the position, one must meet all the eligibility requirements. To be considered for the role, candidates must be a full-time student with no previous conduct violations. Participants must be 18 or older and have a GPA of 2.75 or higher. For more information on the eligibility requirements, students can view the Student Trustees page on the university website. 

After the application process, an election will be held online for the potential candidates. The election will take place from 9 a.m. April 5 through 6 p.m. April 7. At this time, any registered student will be qualified to vote for their desired candidate.

The application deadline for the student representative position is March 12 and all applicants submit their required forms before 2 p.m. For those interested in becoming a Student Representative, potential candidates can start by going to Cougar Link. Students must use their Kean Google username and password in order to access the application.
