The weather is changing and many people are excited to pack up their winter coats in exchange for light jackets and sandals. Spring time is finally here and many are wondering what are some activities they can engage in.

People are still expected to follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and are required to wear masks, but there are various things that a person can do to enjoy this weather and safely have a good time.

There are indoor and outdoor activities that are safe, yet fun. Some of these activities include:

  • Indoor adventures at American Dream Mall

  • Hiking

  • Outdoor picnics

  • Walking

  • Bicycling

  • NJ State Parks

  • Camping

  • Drive-thru safari

  • Drive-in movie theaters

American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, NJ has many attractions that are family friendly. The Nickelodeon Universe, DreamWorks Water Park, Blacklight Mini Golf, Mirror Maze, Angry Birds Mini Golf, Big Snow, The Rink, Legoland Discovery Center and Sea Life are enjoyable activities that strictly enforce social distancing guidelines.

For the outdoor lovers, activities such as hiking with family and friends or planning outdoor picnics can be a great way to spend time with loved ones as well as enjoy the warm weather.

Whether it is taking a stroll in the neighborhood or riding a bike on bike trails, all are welcomed to appreciate the spring sun and get some fresh air.

New Jersey State parks and private residential campgrounds are open. Attendees are required to comply with the rules and regulations that have been placed on outdoor gatherings. Some parks to visit are Washington Rock State Park, Liberty State Park and Cheesequake State Park.

Individuals who are interested in wildlife and animals can visit the Six Flags Wild Safari Drive-Thru Adventure in the comfort of their own vehicles. Reservations are required.

Drive-in movie theaters can be good for those who miss the comfort of going to the theaters but want to maintain social distancing. Popular drive-in theaters in NJ/NY that are open for the season are the Delsea Drive-In Theater in Vineland, NJ and Warwick Drive-In in Warwick, NY.

Although the weather is getting warmer and many are ready to have fun, be sure to continue to follow the CDC guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic. If there are any questions regarding COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, visit https://covid19.nj.gov.
