Kean Association of Marketing (KAM) just recently won the Marketing Madness competition after a month of many competitors who stepped up to the plate with the final decision being announced on April 2. The prize was $6,500 and an exclusive talk session with HP's Global Head of Design & Sustainability, Stacy Wolff.

The annual undergraduate marketing competition is a nationwide phenomenon hosted by United States Postal Service through the Direct Effect Program and is sponsored by HP.

Many students and faculty from schools across the United States partook in this competition to learn and grow from each other through one common niche: integrated marketing.

Approximately thirty-seven universities took part in the competition.

Kean Association of Marketing were up against institutions such as Western Michigan University, Bentley University, Pepperdine University, James Madison University, Rowan University and Xavier University.

Despite the odds, the Kean Association of Marketing remained strong and confident. The competition was composed to two sections, evaluating the marketing knowledge and proficiency of students.

For the first section, participants had to complete the micro-credential marketing certificate course while having to recruit other students to follow suit in order to earn points.

The second section required students to submit direct marketing examples of their choosing and sharing the reasoning based on their marketing to get their team points.

Through their combined marketing knowledge of recruiting through social media, emails, flyers and word of mouth, the Kean Association of Marketing had a strong performance and were able to soar to the top of the rankings by putting in the work.

Upon winning the competition, Kean Association of Marketing won a cash prize and had a talk session with Stacy Wolff at HP where the organization learned more about HP's hiring process, what the company wants in graduates and how to have value as a candidate competing against many other individuals vying for the same spot.

The Kean Association of Marketing was founded in 2019 and currently has 76 members. The president of this organization is Alex Savage and the faculty advisor is Min Chung Han, Ph.D.

The aim of the organization is to serve the student as the platform for industry and career guidance in the communications field. More information about KAM can be found on Cougar Link.
