Graduate ceremonies are happening for all types of students.

Although the semester is coming to a close, the Kean community can still look forward to the graduation ceremonies around the corner. Each event tailors to the different types of students at Kean University.

On Friday, April 28, Kean University held its Lavender Graduation Ceremony. This event was dedicated to LGBTQIA+ students. The ceremony celebrated the achievements that these students accomplished throughout their academic journeys. 

On Friday, May 5, Kean University’s 2023 Honors Convocation will occur in Harwood Arena. The ceremony is designed to spotlight Kean’s honor students and their accomplishments in all things related to academics. This event will also be live-streamed for all unable to attend.

This year’s ceremony will have Rajika Bhandari, Ph.D. as the keynote speaker. Bhandari is an expert in international higher education, a published author, and an orator. 

On Saturday, May 6, the 36th Annual African Heritage Graduation Ceremony will take place in Wilkins Theater. Between 4 and 6 p.m., the Office of Africana Studies is hosting the ceremony to honor students’ personal and academic successes in the spirit and traditions of African culture. Participants will include:

  • Undergraduates
  • Graduates
  • Doctorates 
  • Candidates filed for graduation in May and August

Kean University’s 2023 Graduate Commencement is the official graduation ceremony for graduate students. In the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ, graduates will receive degrees for their respective majors. The event will occur on Tuesday, May 16, at 11 a.m.

The 2023 Undergraduate Commencement will occur at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. This event is for undergraduate students graduating in May. The ceremony will commence on Thursday, May 18, at 8:30 a.m.

Graduation is an important milestone for many students and is an anticipated event for the scholar and their families. The Student Affairs Media Team gives all graduates congratulations on their well-deserved success!
