On Tuesday, October 3, the Center for Leadership and Service hosted its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month Kickoff event in the atrium of the Miron Student Center (MSC). There were several tables decorated in shades of pink that presented fun activities for students to participate in. The students were able to make a generous donation, participate in festivals and learn information about breast cancer.

Martha Julemis, graduate assistant for the Center for Leadership and Service stated, “Today, we have a couple of carnival games. Students are encouraged to make a donation and they’ll go around to the tables and play the games. We have raffle tickets to enter to win this raffle basket. We also have a sign-up for our breast cancer walk we go to every year in Edison," said Julemis.

Dilara Ahiskalioglu of the Center for Leadership and Service shared the different games available at the event. “We have ring toss, we have penny drop, we have painting...also cup pong," said Ahiskalioglu. Many students were touched by the event as it was relatable to their personal lives.

Ruby Crowell, a freshman clinical psychology major, expressed what the Breast Cancer Kickoff meant to her. “My aunt, she had breast cancer so this is a great representation and a great way for everybody to participate in stuff and donate so it’s really fun," said Crowell.
