Unity Week kicked off on a high note with Student Government Association's Culturefest, celebrating the diversity that makes our Cougar community so vibrant. With events happening all week, it’s all about showing up, supporting each other, and building community across campus. In between the excitement, we slowed it down during the Wellness After Hours discussion with Cougar Connections Center for Social Work , creating space for reflection and meaningful conversation. Then we turned the energy all the way up at Cougar All Stars: Student vs Fac/Staff Basketball Game hosted by SGA Class of 2027. We’re just getting started… stay tuned for more from Unity Week content!

Women in STEM is more than just a club, it’s a support system. It’s for students juggling classes, jobs, and life, while still finding a space to grow. Whether you’re outspoken or more reserved, this is a place where you can connect, feel supported, and leave with a little more confidence than you came in with.
This Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting graduate research assistant, Vanessa Garate and the work she’s doing in prenatal health. Through her research, she’s exploring how wearable tech can support expecting mothers and improve communication with healthcare providers. Working under the College of Liberal Arts with Dr. “Estelle” Ranran Z. Mi, and alongside Wenzhou-Kean exchange students, Vanessa is helping create solutions that make a real impact.
For Black History Month, we spotlight The Underground Experience, a moving, immersive tour that invited us to step into history and honor the resilience, courage, and legacy of Black trailblazers whose stories deserve to be heard. The experience challenged us to reflect, connect, and continue the conversation beyond the moment.
In honor of Black History Month, we’re proud to highlight Ms. Lisia Aikens and the powerful impact she continues to make at Kean University. Through her work at the Center for Africana Studies, she enriches our campus culture and helps our community thrive through mentorship and advising of many student organizations.
