Enjoy an afternoon of tea with friends and family at Liberty Hall Museum on Sunday, June 14, 2015. from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Liberty Hall Museum is hosting the first Afternoon Tea in the Gardens this summer, as “attendees can expect Liberty Hall's signature Afternoon Tea program taking place in our beautiful gardens.  They'll also get treated to a talk about the history of the gardens and some gardening tips, such as the proper way of caring for roses,” comments Lacey Bongard, who is the coordinator of museum programs at the museum.

Attendees will also be treated to scrumptious finger food along the likes of sandwiches, fruits, and scones. There will be two flavors of tea to choose from at the event and “one of the teas we will most likely serve is ‘rose’ tea,” comments Bongard, “which fits nicely with the theme.”

The inspiration for this event was from the last lady who lived at Liberty Hall, Mary Alice Kean. “She loved the history of Liberty Hall,” says Bongard, “and during her time living in the house, she started to do some work on the house to restore it. Once she finished a part of the house, she would invite guests over to show them what was done, give them a tour, and then invite them for tea on the glass porch.” Liberty Hall Museum decided to keep Kean’s tradition, although she never served tea outside.

Attendees will also get the opportunity of a full tour of the museum after enjoying the outdoor festivities. Each ticket is $40 and $35 for those who are Liberty Hall Museum members. For anyone who wants to attend, one must reserve by June 7, 2015, by calling the museum at 908-527-0400.
