Starting a new journey at a college/university can be a nerve-wracking time for anyone; New Student Orientation (NSO) is the first chance to experience all of what Kean University has to offer and ease those nerves.

On Monday, August 31, 2015, the School of General Studies- Transition to Kean (T2K) will be hosting NSO. Orientation will start at 8 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. “Approximately 1600 plus students attend [NSO, and] they are greeted by the President [Dawood Farahi] and fellow administrators of the college,” said Gwen Beloti, advisor to the School of General Studies.

NSO is an incoming students’ first formal introduction to the campus. NSO collaborates with T2K to help students gain a greater understanding of the university. During orientation students will meet with their T2K instructor and General Education Mentor (GEM). “Students are able to engage with their peers, hear from a motivational speaker, and learn about various aspects of the campus,” said Beloti.

The motivational speaker at orientation will be Jonathan Sprinkles. Sprinkles has been featured on ABC News, Fox News, USA Today, and many more news outlets. He wants people to learn to accept responsibility in their role and to approach every assignment accepting excellence and success.
