Veterans Day is a time intended for individuals of the nation to reflect and honor all American citizens who served in combat. The members of the Military and Veterans Club (MVC) on campus has taken it upon themselves to address the necessity of this day.

Join the MVC on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, for the Veterans Day Ceremony taking place at the Miron Student Center (MSC) Patio at 11 a.m.

While some may believe it is a coincidence that everything is revolving around the number 11 on this day, it was intentional and serves a purpose. The end of World War I, commonly referred to as “the war to end all wars,” came about when all sides agreed to lay down their firearms and sign the Treaty of Versailles. This occurred at the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month. A nation of tradition, this will be the 97 year America has honored veterans on this day.

The itinerary for the Veterans Day Ceremony consists of various elements. As individuals gather for the ceremony they can take into appreciation the flower wreaths scattered across the MSC Patio. In honor of all American military personnel, Taps, the common military song, will be played during the ceremony. Individuals will also be able to listen to keynote speaker Amilcar Colon, an Undersheriff of Union County and a veteran.

Veterans Day is a day of remembrance. This year, come support past and current troops and make an appearance at the Veterans Day Ceremony.
