It's The Finals Countdown

It is that time of the semester--finals season. December can be one of the most stressful months of the fall semester as students are trying to cram for tests, hand in papers last minute, and finish all projects. All of these can be overwhelming, so Kean University students do their best to host events where students can just take a breather and relax.

There are relaxing, therapeutic ways for commuter students and resident students to calm down and control their stress.

The Office of Residential Student Services (RSS) hosted a Milk and Cookies Study Break on Tuesday, Dec. 5. at Dougall Hall's second floor. Resident students studying took a break and enjoyed some milk and cookies.

RSS will host a Pop The Stress Away on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Bartlett Hall's community center. Students can enjoy some popcorn and popping bubble wrap to de-stress while on a study break. Later that night from 7 to 9:30 p.m., students can go to the Cougar's Den and join the Poetry Club and Filipinos Uniting Nations at Kean (FUNK) for their open-mic unwinding poetry event Vibes Night.

On Tuesday, Dec. 12, 7 to 8 p.m., RSS is teaming up with ACCESS in New Freshman Residence Hall's second floor lounge for Teach The Tutors. ACCESS will make sure students have the correct materials needed for their finals.

On Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Miron Student Center (MSC) prefunction lobby from noon to 4 p.m., Student Organization will have a Stress No More: Massages event where students can sit back, relax, and rejuvenate for finals. At the same day and same time, the Commuter Resource Center (CRC) will have a similar event, Stress Less Fest: Relaxation Station, in the Hutchinson multipurpose room, or the commuter student lounge.

On Friday, Dec. 15 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., the CRC will host Stress Less Fest: Pet Therapy in the Hutchinson multipurpose room. Students will be able to alleviate stress by spending quality time cuddling service dogs. On the same day and time, Student Organization will host Fuel for Finals, which is similar to Stress Less Fest, in the MSC prefunction lobby. Overall, this day will be full of dogs trying to calm down students' stress level.

Be sure to check out the areas around Kean University to focus and study. Remember, if a break is needed, there are many events that will cater to stress relief.

Good luck on finals!
