Thursday, May 3 Kean University Top Knotch, held a day parade to showcase their group and offer students with a fun day on the warm day. Held outside of the Miron Student Center, the Top Knotch Day Parade offered fresh squeezed lemonade, food, popcorn, cotton candy, activities and performances by the KU Dolls. The event was funded by Student Organization.

Top Knotch is Kean University's first and only majorette team. The KU Dolls perform at football and basketball games as well as host special events and fundraisers that showcase their talent. The group was founded in 2017 and has seven performing members.

Majorette dancing is a synchronized, choreographed and sequential form of dance. It is often performed at sporting events and parades, as they typically perform with brass accompaniment which can be live or through a recording.

Student Organization prides itself on serving as the voice of the students of Kean University. They listen and utilize student voices for activities and maintaining a healthy environment on campus. Student Org funded this event and many others on campus, in fact many of the activities offered are coordinated with their funding including bus trips, stress relievers and movie nights.

The Top Knotch Day Parade was held to have students come out for college hour and enjoy food, music and performance. There were inflatable slides, obstacle courses and a basketball hoop.

The parade gave local student businesses a chance to promote themselves. A makeup artist promoted her services and gave out business cards, as well as a table for selling hats and art work. The parade helped to get the individuals' names out to the Kean student community.

The KU Dolls performed three different times for the crowd, each time featuring individuals in the group as well as performing as an ensemble. They did their routines to brass versions of popular songs.

"I was walking and saw all of the people gathered and decided to stop by. I had never heard of Top Knotch, and when I saw them perform, I was blown away. It was really fun, and it was such a nice day. I am really glad I stopped because I now know more about a group I had never heard of before," said Alyssa Edgar, Kean freshman.
