Black History Month is celebrated throughout the United States. It is set to express the accomplishments of African-Americans throughout the years. Today, Black History Month lets one take pride through culture. Culture identifies the environment that one lives in. Throughout society, one may see the trials and tribulations that any ethnicity may encounter.

Although some may believe they have nothing in common with their older generation, they fail to realize the older age group has been in their shoes before.

The benefit that people receive from volunteering is the satisfaction of incorporating service into their lives. It does not only make a difference for oneself, but for the community. Volunteering is intended to promote the quality of life. It is considered a service to society by one's own interests, personal skills, and the satisfaction of pride is what one feels after performing service for their community.

Kean University's Nathan Weiss Graduate School has recently made history. Eight students have earned an Ed.D. in Urban Leadership. The Urban Leadership program is one of many degrees within the Nathan Weiss Graduate School. The program is considered unique because it is the only one offered in New Jersey. Founding the program some years ago, it has blazed a trail for future cohorts to follow. It has enabled Kean University to embark on a journey of transformation.
The Student Group Leadership Conference was designed to provide all student group leaders [presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, secretaries, public relations directors, and new member educations] from all student organizations [funded groups, Greek letter organizations, non-funded groups, and student governments] with a comprehensive training program to prepare them for their roles during the upcoming academic year.
As June comes to a close, as does the school year. Millions of American children venture on to hot sandy beaches, boardwalks, and amusement parks. Some board a plane to another destination. Although adventures in the hot sun are fun, little do Americans know the history of what is in their own backyard.
