Kean University graduates first eight students with a new title.

Kean University's Nathan Weiss Graduate School has recently made history. Eight students have earned an Ed.D. in Urban Leadership. The Urban Leadership program is one of many degrees within the Nathan Weiss Graduate School. The program is considered unique because it is the only one offered in New Jersey. Founding the program some years ago, it has blazed a trail for future cohorts to follow. It has enabled Kean University to embark on a journey of transformation.

 Kean University's competitive Ed.D. program in Urban Leadership prepares dedicated educational leaders who understand and appreciate the challenges of urban areas and who are able to make a positive difference in the state's urban schools, educational agencies, families and communities. The curriculum based on an innovative, interdisciplinary, and professional-oriented model provides solid intermediate and advanced training and the opportunity to put theory into practice through integrated coursework and practical culminating in a full-year internship in a school district or community education agency.
