Letter from The Editor
Benito Nieves

As a continuing effort to represent student perspectives in The Cougar's Byte, our writing and editing staff are opening our pages to you – the readers. Many students in the past four weeks have requested we publish articles about their experiences and interests; but also in their own words. Our response: write away, Cougars; right away!

For the rest of the Fall 2011 semester, The Cougar's Byte will include articles from contributing writers, regardless of their student year or major. Articles are recommended to encompass themes and features around Kean University groups, news, events, students and faculty, and anything you feel needs a Kean-blue spotlight. Articles containing heavy opinion and editorial content, first-person perspectives, and ‘slang vocabulary' are discouraged for submission. If any student wants to gather an idea for the type of articles our team strives to write, they need simply read one of our recent issues.

We at The Cougar's Byte encourage students to think creatively when it comes to their articles. Submit photographs of the event you are writing about. Offer graphics or design suggestions as to how you might like your article to appear in the print edition. Our design team is welcome to work with the vision of your creative eye! Please indicate the source of any visual images sent to accompany articles.

Articles submitted should be approximately 300 – 500 words in length, and should be saved as a Microsoft Word document, sent to cbyte@kean.edu. Contributing writers should include their name, their student year, and their major with their articles. Contributing writers should also be advised that any time-sensitive articles should be sent at least two weeks in advance, and should indicate the time sensitivity of the article in the body of their email submission email.
