The Card Catalog Cold Wave: Part 1

Library PressDisplay bridges Kean students to world news

Benito Nieves

Over 6,000 miles away from the Kean University campus, something has grabbed the attention of Lebanon news headlines. The challenge, given to a Kean student, who has no personal connections to the country or knowledge of its language, is to find out what exactly that headline news is. It is safe to say that by the time one has purchased a flight ticket and mastered the language, or even taken the more logical route of exploring internet search engines for hours in hopes to come across a site that offers current international issues, the news has already become "old news". The Nancy Thompson Library at Kean University offers students a solution to this seemingly impossible task: Library PressDisplay

With a few clicks of the mouse and a library barcode, students may access current news from Brazil, DemarkPressDisplay

Students have the option to search the alphabetized list of counties who participate in the Library PressDisplayPressDisplay

First time users of the Kean University Library database may access its homepage through the Kean University website or visit http://library.kean.eduPressDisplay

Students attempting to access Nancy Thompson services off-campus may be prompted to input their personal Kean University library code, located on the back of their Kean ID card. First time users may receive a bar code by presenting their Kean ID to library staff.
