The relationship between diversity and a "Kean identity" is oft spotlighted; in fact, the campus community celebrates it regularly through events, departmental, divisional missions, and even in curriculum. Though, the constancy of such spotlight may cause a "numbing" to the very special ingredients that make up such a recipe. In this article, The Cougar's Byte extracts a rather temporary French flavor in the campus community, and introduces them to the Cougars they have yet to meet.

The Fall 2011 semester brings a new, visiting community to Kean University -- from France. These 21 students are on a two semester tour in America -- the first term spent studying in Kean University, and the second in Florida through a business based internship with Disney. This opportunity not only offers students experience in an international business market, but does so in side-stepping the TOEFL

Five of the students in this program share their experiences in Kean University, and America, with their Kean peers.

Experiencing Homecoming, Cat says he admires most the sportsmanship he has witnessed. Sportsmanship, according to Cat, is exciting, and an appropriate representation of the pride he senses within the community. Cat wishes to be employed  in America -- mainly so he can gather experience and further his interaction with an English-speaking environment.

While their stay may temporary, the dynamic they offer the Kean community may have quite the longevity. Students in the Kean community who are searching for the very specific components of the campus diversity need simply keep their ears attentive this semester -- for they just may find one of the students in this program; and with some interaction, who knows what new, long-distance, unique friendships may be formed?
