KEAN mobile is accessible for students for both the iPhone and iPod touch through the iTunes App store. Blackboard Incorporated was the creator of this mobile application with hopes of allowing students to have instant access to campus life in the palm of their hand -- informing them in seconds. Shortly after, KEAN mobile became available through Blackberry App World for Blackberry Smart Phone. Kean University was one of the first colleges across the nation to launch an inclusive mobile application -- amongst prestigious universities such as Stanford University, Duke University, and Texas A&M.

Any Kean student with an internet-accessible mobile device access can view the KEAN Mobile content by going to http://m.kean.edu. The application lets students view news, athletics, maps, courses, events, hours of operation, and videos. Users can search the Nancy Thompson Library's EBSCOhost

Another interesting feature of the KEAN Mobile application is the directory and the map. With the directory, students are able to look up any faculty or staff member and access their phone number, e-mail, or office location without having to search through their papers or going to a computer. In addition, users can select the e-mail and send that faculty or staff member an e-mail through the application on the device. Utilizing the maps feature will allow the user to see the entire campus and locate classes, eateries, and offices all through their phone. The iPhone and iPod touch allows users to pinpoint their location on the campus map.

If students want to know of any campus events, the "Events" section of the application informs students of events. This helps students whom are on campus and have large time gaps between their classes. A complete calendar of events from all sections of campus are accessible, both for registration and knowledge are all now at the power of the fingertip.

There is also a feature that displays the operating hours of buildings on campus including the Nancy Thompson Library, Maxine and Jack Lane Center for Academic Success, and the University Center. A major part of the application is the courses feature. With this feature, students can search for sections, read course descriptions, and obtain professors contact information, without having to log onto KeanWISEKUTV

Kean Publications have also hit the new options to be featured on KEAN Mobile. Kean Magazine, The Tower, and even The Cougar's Byte are available to interested readers; so current news is even easier to access.

The KEAN Mobile application is a beneficial resource for the Kean community. Students and faculty do not have to wait to find access to a computer. The application is free, and available to download in the application stores of these mobile devices. To find KEAN Mobile, simply search for "Kean" in the iTunes App Store or Blackberry App World.
