Kean University Alternative Spring Break 2016

The Kean University Alternative Spring Break project is an opportunity for volunteers to actively participate in community service projects of various forms. It is an opportunity to share a meaningful experience with Kean University students as well as contemplate the role of volunteerism in today's society. Volunteers will be visiting one or more work sites to assist rebuilds of homes as well as other volunteer projects. There is a wide array of tasks, including but not limited to, debris removal, painting, sheet rock removal/installation or general labor tasks and operations etc.

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) hosted a Service Award Breakfast honoring those who have served a numerous amount of hours within a 12 month span from April 2015 to April 2016. It was held in the Donald R. Conklin Conference Center in the Science Technology and Mathematics (STEM) Building.

Ever experience that sense of community and belonging? It is not uncommon for that feeling to be established after donating one’s time and services for the betterment of the community. Year after year Kean University demonstrates that it is no stranger to community service. In fact, the university makes it a point to teach its students that it is not all about hitting the books while in college, but they also encourage students to volunteer.
