A Conference to Inspire!

On the morning of Friday, March 23, hordes of college, high school, middle school and elementary school students packed the house in what was a memorable experience at the 11th annual Human Rights Conference, titled Seeking Refuge: Immigration and Forced Migration Around the World. Multiple human rights activists took the time to speak to all of the students who would then leave with a newfound knowledge about human rights and why it is necessary to prioritize.

MLK Week of Service: A Recap

The MLK Week of Service here at Kean University took place from Feb. 15 to Feb. 25. This span was filled with numerous service projects that provided many students with opportunities to play an instrumental role in the community. More importantly, it was a week that honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man who was not only focused on civil rights but also on the community. These service projects were all organized by the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS).

A multitude of students and fans of poetry alike filled the confines of the Cougar's Den on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, as the Poetry Club, African Students Association at Kean University and Black Greek letter organizations Sigma Gamma Rho and Phi Beta Sigma hosted AfRHOcentric, an open mic night dedicated to creativity and inclusiveness that featured captivating, exquisite and intricate pieces of artistry in the form of poetry, rap, song and spoken word delivered by students from the Poetry Club at Kean University and other individuals from other schools who were interested in performing poetry or their own innovation to the crowd on the evening of Valentine's Day.
