Muhlenberg Moves Past Kean In Home Opener, 21-8

UNION, N.J. (3/27/07) - Senior Katie Reimann (Cumberland, Maine) recorded a game-high five goals as Muhlenberg College defeated Kean University, 21-8, in non-conference women's lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Kean Alumni Stadium.Senior Gio Buono (Plainsboro, N.J.) had a team-high four goals for the Cougars who fell to 2-2 overall this season. Sophomore Ruth Morrongiello (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) registered four goals and an assist in the win for the Mules who improve to 6-2 overall.

Muhlenberg recorded the game's first goal on a free position shot by Morrongiello. Kean responded and would go on to score the game's next three goals to take their only lead of the game. Tied at 4-4, the Mules would score nine uncontested goals to secure the win.

Muhlenberg, who outshot the Cougars 40-23, led 13-5 at the break. The Mules also edged Kean in groundballs, 16-13.

Sophomore Caroline Shadood (Bernardsville, N.J.) recorded nine saves in a complete game effort for the Mules. Senior Lydia Pinto (Clark, N.J.) and freshman Jennifer Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) combined for 14 saves for the Cougars.

For Kean, freshman Joeline Bennett (Willingboro, N.J.) had three goals in the loss.
