Union, N.J. (6/9/07) - Kean University senior Joe Augustine (Highland Park, N.J.) signed a professional minor-league contract with the Kansas City Royals on Saturday, June 9, 2007. Augustine, a 2007 ABCA/Rawlings First-Team All-American, finished his collegiate career with a 25-7 overall record in 35 starts, recording 14 complete games. Sporting a 3.09 ERA in 253 innings of work, Augustine also fanned 224 batters while allowing just 67 walks.

This season, Augustine broke the single-season strikeout mark with 103, while also tying the win mark at 9.

Augustine will report to the Burlington Royals in Burlington, N.C. where the Appalachian League schedule will start on Tuesday, June 19th.
