Cougars Earn Straight-Set Victory Over Polytechnic in Volleyball Opener

(9/1/07) -Senior outside hitter Alicja Ciastoch (Teaneck, N.J.) had a game-high 12 kills to help lead the Kean University volleyball team to a season-opening straight-set victory over Polytechnic University on Saturday afternoon. In the tight match (37-35, 30-28, 30-27), the Cougars were victorious by no more than three points to earn their first victory of the season. For the Cougars, freshman Nicole Bolash (Clinton, N.J.) had a solid debut in a Kean uniform, as she finished with 10 kills and three service aces, while sophomore setter Colleen Masterson (Rahway, N.J.) had 32 assists and two blocks in the win.

Polytechnic had freshman outside hitter Meredith Shipman (Sugarland, Texas) had six kills and five digs, while sophomore outside hitter Jackie Johnson (Missouri City, Texas) added six kills, four digs and three service aces.
