The Kean Gospel Choir was given the opportunity to perform and open for the Rockettes at this year's Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular.

Lately Kean's gospel choir has had a series of impressive and amazing achievements. The most recent of these accomplishments was the opportunity to perform at the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. 

On Dec. 2, Kean Gospel Choir opened up the annual Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular featuring the famed Rockettes. Recommended anonymously, the Kean Gospel Choir was approached by Radio City Music Hall through an email, offering them the opportunity to perform at their holiday celebration featuring the renowned Rockettes. 

The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular is an annual holiday event that takes place all throughout December each year, which features the famous Rockettes and talented performers to celebrate the holiday season.

Opening up the annual Christmas Spectacular, the Kean Gospel Choir performed a medley composed by Malcolm Evans


Kean's Gospel Choir was asked to perform at the Dec. 2 production of the Christmas Spectacular. The performance at the event was a medley of holiday gospel tracks composed by Malcolm Evans; the medley included classics like"O Come, O Come Emmanuel", "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "Joy to the World".

"I'm currently still in shock that we had the opportunity to do this. It felt amazing to be up there and bring everyone Christmas joy from our singing," said Kean Gospel Choir member and Director of PR Shakira Jackson.

Lately the Kean Gospel Choir has been achieving outstanding goals and accomplishments as an organization and for Kean University. They recently released their first single on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Pandora. In celebration of the release of their single, they recently hosted a Gospel concert. The single "Behold Him" was written by Malcolm Evans, Kean Gospel Choir director.

The purpose of the group is to give students an outlet to express their appreciation and worship for God. They are very involved in performance opportunities on campus and showcase their skills at a multitude of different events.

Kean Gospel Choir's long list of accolades includes: three consecutive wins at the McDonald's Gospelfest competition beginning in 2016, feature on a 2016 edition of Fox 5's "Good Day Street Talk", as well as collaborations with the "America's Got Talent" famed Sons of Serendip.

"I feel as if Kean Gospel Choir has worked really hard to get where we are now and it has definitely been shown with all of these opportunities that we have had. Through our dedication and determination, Kean Gospel Choir has been blessed over and over! Kean Gospel Choir works hard to continue to minister off and on campus, and we are definitely going to continue the streak of big events.
