It's Never Too Early!

Jason Pleitez knows the importance of getting involved early. In his first year at Kean, Pleitez has already accumulated over 140 service hours and been involved in numerous clubs and activities and exhibited qualities of a leader.

Cougars That Care 2019

The Future Starts Here

The Internship and Job Fair was held in Downs Hall Wednesday, April 10 from noon to 4 p.m., featuring businesses and organizations perfect for those with an interest in social work, accounting, health care and more. The event was hosted by Kean University's Career Services, a program available to students and alumni as well as employers looking to recruit students at Kean. Through this department, students and alumni can search for jobs and internships posted by approved employers.

A Talking Matter

The Public Speaking Lab, previously known as the Speech Lab, is located across from the Center for Academic Success (CAS) in the Nancy Thompson Library, Room 109. Workers in this department can range from professors to graduates, with part-time job opportunities for students starting at $10 per hour. There are currently two student workers in the lab that handle coaching, scheduling and other minimal tasks.

Get Social With This Minor

With the prominence and advancement of technology and specifically social media in society, the School of Communication, Media and Journalism (CMJ) has added a new minor for students that are interested in becoming more immersed in the online world. Students are now eligible to take courses and minor in social media, which is a great tool to have in this ever-advancing society.

Influencing Change

Student Organization of Kean University and the Social Work Club partnered together to host the panel, Influencing Change: Women Social Workers in Leadership, as part of Women's History Month and Social Work Month. The panel featured New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver, Assemblywoman Joann Downey, J.D., Executive Director for the National Association of Social Workers-New Jersey Chapter Jennifer Thompson, MSW and Executive Director of the Family Service Bureau Manuela Garcia, LCSW, who brought their knowledge and expertise to Kean students.

The World Is Their Classroom

School For The Summer

For those unaware, in addition to the Fall and Spring semesters Kean University also offers two Summer Sessions. This allows and encourages students to take more credits and ultimately complete their degree in a more efficient manner. The first Summer Session is quickly approaching, therefore this will include all of the information that students should be aware of regarding the Summer Sessions.

A Bronze Start

The Kean University Leadership Institute is known to both train, mentor and provide the student leaders on campus. They take in underclassmen and throughout their four-year program create the university's best student leaders who reach great heights. Shelsea Araujo is a Kean freshman in the Leadership Institute who is on her way to achieving great accomplishments and finding her way in the Kean community.

Flying Colors For the Kids

At the end of every spring semester, the Kean University Greek Senate hosts Kean Dance Marathon (KDM), a fundraiser to support the Children's Specialized Hospital (CSH). As the years have progressed, Greek Senate has planned more events throughout the academic year to support KDM and make the donation at the end of the academic year even larger than ever before. This year they hosted the first FTK Color Run to raise more funds for the kids Sunday, April 7.
