However, junior Michael Lopez is making all the moves he can to build up his resume and make the most of his college experience. During his time here at Kean, Lopez has managed to balance his classes while working on campus and still maintaining his level of involvement.

Award winning musical Sundays in the Park with George is coming to Kean from Friday, Nov. 15 to Saturday, Nov. 23. The musical is based on the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat and will be a Kean Theatre Conservatory production.

This past Tuesday, Oct. 29, an event called Midterm Meditation was held in the Nancy Thompson Library Learning Commons. The purpose of this event was to allow students to recharge and get in the right head space to take their midterms. Students know that when it comes time for tests, they tend to get easily overwhelmed and need ways to calm themselves down to be able to focus. At this event, attendees were educated on different forms of stress relievers, which allows them to have a clear mind when it comes time to work on their academics.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Kean University chapter of Pi Alpha Alpha - the Public Administration Honor Society - joined the Family Advocate Network Political Action Committee (FAN-PAC) to host the Children and Family Empowerment Project: Public Policy in Action; Advocacy in the Real World event. The symposium took place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Miron Student Center (MSC), Room 226, and was highlighted by a panel discussion featuring policy-makers, educators, legal experts and advocates. The event was an opportunity for the Kean student body, as well as other local interested guests, to learn more about public policy making and contributing to the public discussion.

The Leadership Institute is a program offered at Kean through the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) which helps guide and give resources to student leaders to build them up to their fullest potential. They achieve this through a variety of different means, such as academic programming, service projects and the community of peers they have created. Another way that The Leadership Institute helps its students to become successful student leaders is through their Leader2Leader Mentor Program.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, the American Cancer Society held its Making Strides Against Break Cancer Walk at Johnson Park in Piscataway, NJ. The event also concluded Kean University's month of Breast Cancer Awareness fundraising. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., members of the Kean community and others walked to broaden awareness of the work being done to combat breast cancer and to lend support to those fighting it.

This past Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, the Office of Residential Student Services hosted an event in Rogers Hall's Community Center called "Melt It Out," where residents sat down and created their own melted crayon art to relieve stress from midterm exams.

When preparing for the next step after graduating college, students can feel lost in the pressure of getting internships, fixing their resumes and managing their money. The Leadership Institute is presenting their Chapter After Workshops to help students prepare for post-college success. The Chapter After Workshops are a series of lectures that will work with students to instill skills needed for applying for future careers.

Becoming a well rounded individual is a major key throughout a student's time here at Kean. Tracking community service hours and all of the organizations a student is currently a part of can be very important when applying for graduate schools as well as positions both on and off campus. The Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) is an official record of students' involvement at Kean University and helps keep track of all the organizations they were or are currently a part of as well as any academic awards that were granted.

The fast-paced life of a college student allows for little room to actively search for scholarship opportunities and other means of financial aid. There are usually hundreds of scholarship resources to sift through, which can take hours of searching, sorting, and applying. However, Kean makes this tedious process simple. From Oct. 1, 2019, through March 1, 2020, Kean students are given access to the Kean University Foundation Scholarship Application.
