Renowned Amehurst College professor Lawrence Douglas, the James J. During professor Jeremiah Sullivan's public relations class at 1:55 p.m. Wednesdays, students are shown the ways of the world in the PR field from an experienced professional. In Room 353 of the Center for Academic Success (CAS) Wednesday, April 18, from 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., this class was just a little bit different, as four members of the Coyne Public Relations firm who are graduates of Kean University and former students of Sullivan, informed, answered questions and lectured to a class of 20-plus communications and public relations students about the everyday life of a PR employee and the realities of their positions.

Kean University celebrated in another installment of their coveted Kean Dance Marathon (KDM) Friday, April 20, 2018. This 12-hour dance festival, complete with games, prizes, performances, informational booths and a multitude of music was the hottest attraction on the Kean campus from noon to midnight.

Multicultural sorority Mu Sigma Upsilon hosted yet another one of their successful events celebrating diversity and inclusion from all walks of life, called Recognizing and Celebrating Ethnicities (R.A.C.E) on the evening of Monday, April 16, 2018. Known as the first multicultural sorority in the nation and a founding member of the National Multicultural Greek Council (NMGC), this night was another showcase of the sorority's morals representing uniqueness and pride in every cultures and ethnicity stretching across the globe.

On the evening of Thursday, April 5, over a dozen of Kean University's most talented and artistically gifted students made their way to the Miron Student Center (MSC) Little Theatre in the first-ever Kean's Got Talent talent show. From 7 to 10 p.m., amazingly talented students wooed the crowd with their creative songs, dance routines, poems, raps and other unique talents for a great cause.

The art of constructing intricate pieces through the use of one's vivid mind and vocabulary have created memorable writings that had the power to inspire and motivate future generations, just with the use of one's voice and a pen to a piece of paper.

Kean University's Counseling Center are holding a series of wellness workshops on campus until Tuesday, May 1. These workshops, specifically catered to students, will prioritize balance in the students through informative and influential discussions and exercises that optimize wellness for their futures, whether they are freshmen still undergoing the undergraduate process, or seniors who are waiting to get out into the working world.

On the morning of Friday, March 23, hordes of college, high school, middle school and elementary school students packed the house in what was a memorable experience at the 11th annual Human Rights Conference, titled Seeking Refuge: Immigration and Forced Migration Around the World. Multiple human rights activists took the time to speak to all of the students who would then leave with a newfound knowledge about human rights and why it is necessary to prioritize.

The venue of Liberty Hall is scheduled to be filled to the brim on the evening of Friday, March 23, as the annual Ladies' Night Out: A Night of Vintage Fashion will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. The fashion show, dedicated to the celebration of old-fashioned garment and formal dress, will be a sight to see for those who will be attending the fashion show.

The results are in, and a new group of appointed Greek Senate Executive Board members were officially sworn into their new leadership roles via an announcement on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Eight positions that had been previously occupied before the election were filled by eight new members of the Greek Senate for the semesters to come, including the roles of president, vice president of programming, vice president, and five other vacant spots.

The last semester for college students can be a fruitful experience, as final classes, graduation pictures, cap-and-gown buying and plan-making for their big commencement ceremony all occur. This can also be a bittersweet and stressful time for students finishing up their undergraduate careers, with the pressures of finding a job after graduation and the need for the payment of student expenses just being some of the worries that seniors have before and after they get their degrees.

After the elections for the student alternate Board of Trustees representative role ended on Wednesday, Feb. 21, it was announced that Ashley Buchanan won the position with a majority of the popular vote. The election, which began Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. and continued throughout the day until 6 p.m. Wednesday, featured Buchanan and two other Kean students, Jose Salas and Tiffany Osoria.

A multitude of students and fans of poetry alike filled the confines of the Cougar's Den on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, as the Poetry Club, African Students Association at Kean University and Black Greek letter organizations Sigma Gamma Rho and Phi Beta Sigma hosted AfRHOcentric, an open mic night dedicated to creativity and inclusiveness that featured captivating, exquisite and intricate pieces of artistry in the form of poetry, rap, song and spoken word delivered by students from the Poetry Club at Kean University and other individuals from other schools who were interested in performing poetry or their own innovation to the crowd on the evening of Valentine's Day.

As an ode to Black History Month, the Office of Africana Studies hosted an informative and influential event in the Miron Student Center Little Theatre Tuesday, Feb. 13. Carol Russell, a retired police sergeant who served the Trenton Police Department, spoke about the struggles of minority and African-American female police officers in an environment dominated by the male and Caucasian majority. This presentation, given to the audience with a vivid PowerPoint shown on the stage of the Little Theatre, made the audience members feel what it is like being in the force as a woman of color.

In the midst of Black History Month at Kean University, several events have taken place to commemorate various aspects of black culture and history on campus. From events such as the flag raising ceremony that took place on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 1, to the Ladysmith Black Mambazo performance inside of the Enlow Recital Hall on Friday, Feb. 9, the options that students, faculty and other members of the Kean community had to celebrate the historical month were abundant.
