Every year, the Kean community takes two weeks to honor the establishment of our institution and the students who keep it going. During the Fall, there’s the bliss of homecoming, full of tailgating, football games, and iconic performers taking on the Wilkins Theatre. However, there’s nothing like that one week in April, where students come together to celebrate the founding of our University, Unity Week.

On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, The Galleries at Kean hosted Jaymes Jorsling to showcase “Hub City,” a multidisciplinary project highlighting America’s racial traumas, as part of its Transcending Boundaries art program. The Human Rights Institute and Holocaust Resource Center introduced Jorsling, a local artist, playwright and actor, to discuss his works and perspective on the power of art.

Kicking off the first day of the spring semester on Monday, January 12, Kean University held the annual Winter Carnival, welcoming students to a fresh new start to the year. On Tuesday, December 9, Kean University’s Holocaust Resource Center and Human Rights Institute hosted a Genocide Prevention and Awareness Day tabling event, transforming the Miron Student Center Atrium into a space for reflection, learning, and community engagement. The event honored the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide, observed annually on December 9, the same date the United Nations adopted the Genocide Convention in 1948.
