On Thursday, April 7, 2016, students, staff and the Kean community gathered in the Center for Academic Success (CAS) for a poetry reading of Rabbit Ears: TV Poems. Rabbit Ears is a book of poetry featuring 130 poets covering the many decades of TV; it surrounds many great television series, characters and storylines. Ten poets read both their own and others’ stories.
Kean University’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society (PRSSA) urges both students and faculty to join them for Kickin’ For Courage, a kickball tournament to support the veteran charity Bonds of Courage on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the Jim Hynes Baseball Field of Kean University.
When Amy Boright and Jared Siperstein’s son Jude was diagnosed with meningomyelitis, everything changed. But the support they received from The Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside helped them through the times of turmoil.
On Friday, April 8, 2016, the Human Rights Institute at Kean University held its ninth annual conference. Entitled Locked up in America: The Business of Incarceration, it was a close examination of critical issues of incarceration. Meant to educate and inform, the conference featured a variety of experts who spoke about their interactions with the justice system and U.S. prison industry. Each expert is in their own way a social justice advocate that works tirelessly toward a better tomorrow. During the conference, they took time to share their insights, experiences and expertise related to the prison system.
The students of Kean University come together to support the veterans who sacrifice their lives for us on the daily.

The School of General Studies–Transition to Kean, along with the Office of Intervention and Retention, has organized workshops for students to attend. The goal of the workshops is to help students manage stress, time and anxiety, as well as learn self-care and proper note-taking. During the workshops, the professional departments and counselors will give some tips and advice for participates. All workshops will take place in Center for Academic Success (CAS) at varying times.
