The 2012 Annual Greek Awards Banquet will be one that resonates for some years to come. In the relocated setting of the ornate Galloping Hill Inn in Union, NJ, Greek letter members of Kean University celebrated one of their most successful years yet, proving regardless the task - be it academic success, service work hours in the multi-thousands mark, or well-executed civil contention - it would be met with drive and conquer.

I have gone on record - probably too many times, to some annoyance - in saying Kean University is my home; and not just in the metaphorical sense. If there is any validity in that, then The Cougar's Byte is my bedroom - with a great view as a plus. I feel most comfortable in the office, among family, doing what I love: manifesting pride into something tangible.

With the odds stacked against her, Sarah Salter, junior mathematical science major with secondary education certification, emerged victorious with 55 percent of the vote in the 2012-13 student government election. Seldom does a student transition to student-leader readily equipped to tackle student issues within their respective campus; yet, students of next year will have Salter - an advocate for students willing to take on two campuses.

The Multicultural Festival is no stranger to the Kean campus; in fact, the rolling success of the annual event leaves only excitement and anticipation following each cessation. This year, recurring host, the Dynasty Delta Chapter of Psi Sigma Phi Multicultural Fraternity, Inc., invited the Thunderous Theta Chapter of Omega Phi Chi Sorority, Inc. to join forces. The result? A packed Downs Hall, a philanthropic cause, and to keep to the caliber of event established throughout the years, an international celebration of music, dance, and cuisine

While some "soaked up the sun" in relaxation during this year's spring break, a few student volunteers of the Be The Change service group were participating in the group's fifth philanthropic venture south. From March 16 to March 25, eight students joined group advisor, Dr. Norma Bowe, to destination New Orleans; and in congruent fashion to previous trips, the group made some service stops throughout.

Seldom is it used to speak to sense of community built upon its action to unify or strengthen.
