The spring semester is here and in full force! Kean University students are getting adjusted to their classes and acclimating themselves into the college routine for a successful semester.
Kean University held our annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Feb. 1 in Townsend Hall. This event allowed many students to learn about Chinese culture and expand their mindset on how many celebrate the Lunar year.
Black History Month is dedicated to celebrating Black excellence and raising awareness of Black history. Kean University honors this month by showing support through events, discussions and programs. The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), the National Council of Negro Women and the Pan-African Student Union joined together to kick off Black History Month.
On Feb. 4, Wear Red is a national day that helps to promote awareness for heart disease and stroke in women. Kean University hosts this event in partnership with the American Heart Association who fight against heart disease. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death across the country for both men and women. This day was created to bring more attention to heart disease because it has now become a greater issue among women.
Students may be wondering how to get more involved on campus for the spring semester. If so, get ready to check that off your list. The Center for Leadership and Service is helping students get involved by holding a Student Involvement and Employment Fair. If students want to learn what Kean has to offer, then this is a good place to start.
As winter break comes to an end, Kean students and staff will return to campus next week for the spring semester. Although in a different location this year, Greek Organizations are eager to showcase their chapters and get everyone involved for Meet the Greeks.
On Nov. 23 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. The School of Management and Marketing at Kean University hosted the Business Analytics Forum in Hynes Hall on the sixth floor. The room overlooking the New York skyline was filled with students and faculty who were eager to learn more about analytics in modern day business corporations.
On Thursday, Nov. 11, the Center for Leadership and Service held the Stand Campaign workshop, honoring Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in the Miron Student Center [MSC], room 315B.
One of the many exciting experiences that come along with going to college is getting to be on one’s own and live on campus. Living on campus provides students with easy access to all that their school has to offer, while having a front row seat to their education. Being on campus also creates a bridge for students to meet new people and make long-lasting friendships during their time at school.

The college is providing scholars with a chance to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. This innovative undergraduate program offers an opportunity for participants to gain knowledge in varying courses and to leave with an enhanced educational experience.
W. John Bauer and Nancy Boucher established The Bauer Boucher Playwriting Awards in 2014 to recognize one Kean student and one Kean alumni for their work each year. This award supports the writers who are awarded it in enhanced visibility, dramaturgical feedback, a cash award and the opportunity to hear their plays read out loud by an ensemble of professional actors. This is an amazing opportunity for young writers to have their work put out into the world and get a jumpstart to their career.
Attention all cougars, it’s time to explore different major or minors. The School of General Studies and Center for Advertising, Persistence and Success hosted an exploration fair to help students find the major or minor that is right for them.
The Supply Drive for Afghan Refugees is a drive dedicated to collecting goods on behalf of the those who are moving into New Jersey. This event is driven to supply everything from clothes to water for those who need it most.
It’s official! Meet the Greeks is back on campus. Meet the Greeks has always been a great semester kick off and this time was no different. With colorful themes and cheerful chants, the Greeks are ready to welcome students back on campus and to introduce them to Greek life.
