Fallen apples nestle themselves in the green grass while children attempt to reach for the tallest branches. Apples swirled with the colors of green and red, are clenched tightly in eager hands as families crowd around trees. A sweet, tart fragrance litters the air.

Sounds of laughter and music echoed around campus, while the aroma of burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and much more perfumed the air.The Downs Hall Cookout took place on September 10, 2012 on the patio across from the Downs Hall entrance. There were few carnival games for the attendees to enjoy and Student Organization handed out "Rock the Vote" pins, to promote the importance of letting ones voice count in this year's elections. The cookout brought people together to enjoy good company, good weather, and good energy. Students gathered around the DJ booth and reveled in laughter and activities as well as the many food options available for them provided by the university services.

The Kean University Foundation is a scholarship non-profit organization which helps create a donor base that contributes to a student's financial matters. One of their many goals is to make sure that scholarships are secured through the application of private donations. This organization benefits all of the university.

Imagine a small child -- nicknamed Smiley -- who wanders off to befriend and help strangers. That child is Janine Rivera, founder of the Kean University Human Rights Club. She was the peacemaker during grammar school - the one who loved helping others. That love has carried forward to today.

The soft lull of the ocean rocks the boat gently. The sweet breeze ruffles through the billowing sails. For a moment, the audience is transported to a different time and place where mythical beasts roam the roaring seas and goddesses visit mortal men in their sleep. In reality, the stage is set with tall structures posing as stone and mountainous ranges. Sheer drapes frame the stage with glowing lights. "On Stranger Tides", a song listed in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack plays in the background before the performance. It sets the tone for a magnificent time.

On February 14, 2012, second semester freshmen students were invited to a spectacular Valentine's Day event in the University Center. The afternoon was buzzing with laughter and smiles as students enjoyed pastries of every kind and strawberries covered in chocolate. Students sat around circular tables, talking and playing games. But most importantly, they had fun.

Once upon a time there was a brave soldier named Odysseus. He ventured out to battle in the Trojan War, but it took eighteen years for him to return home. Students can view this journey filled with unexpected twists this February and early March. The Odyssey, the most read poem ever, has been adapted to fit the Kean stage -- drawing the interest of play goers across the tri-state.
