Kean University is known for a world-class affordable education. The university pushes this goal further with offerings of multiple scholarships. The Kean Foundation scholarship application is open and will close Friday, March 1, 2019 and is available for all Kean student applicants.

December is AIDS Awareness Month, and Kean University is acknowledging this with multiple events that are promoting education concerning sex, disease and communication. AIDS Awareness Month is a month of opportunity to reflect and raise awareness for the disease that affects millions of people all around the world every year.
Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority Inc. will be hosting a human trafficking program Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Miron Student Center (MSC), Room 315A in hopes of spreading awareness about this sensitive topic.
This upcoming Wednesday, Dec. 5, Student Health Services as well as Lambda Sigma Upsilon will be hosting Get Yourself Tested. The intention of this event is to encourage students to get tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to ensure that the students of Kean University are healthy and safe. This event will transpire in Downs Hall, Room 126 from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Come finals week, students often find themselves swamped with projects, papers and exams. Fortunately, Kean will offer a Reading Day before the start of finals week to give students a whole day to prepare and review their material. This semester's reading day will take place Friday, Dec. 14.
For the first time, the Greek Senate will be hosting a Kean Dance Marathon (KDM) Winter Wonderland Gala. This event, taking place Thursday, Nov. 29 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. in the STEM building’s Donald R. Conklin Conference Center, is set to provide additional funds to the annual KDM project while simultaneously allowing students to experience an elegant night of fun.
As people travel home to the embraces of their family this Thanksgiving, others must brace the cold and pangs of hunger. In the face of holiday excitement and cheer, the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) on behalf of the University, humbled the Kean community by bringing attention to the millions of homeless people through their Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
In honor and celebration of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), the English Department at Kean University is holding weekly Write-In Cafe events every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

On Friday, Nov. 9, Kean held their Veteran's Day Ceremony at the Miron Student Center (MSC) Room 226 to commemorate the men and women who have served the United States, as well as their families.
President Dawood Farahi has pledged to award any first semester Kean student who came in with a freshman merit scholarship and earns a 4.0 GPA. This award will take the form of a $100 gift card to Ursino Steakhouse and Tavern, located in the STEM building.

On Monday, Nov. 26, the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) will be hosting a service trip to the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home in Edison, New Jersey. From 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., students will be providing essential companionship to veterans.
On Tuesday, Nov. 27 in the STEM Building, the Holocaust Resource Center will host a new lecture in the Murray Pantier Memorial Scholar Lecture Series discussing French Jewish history. "Who Owns French Jewish History? The Strange Story of Zosa Szajkowski, Archive Salvager, Historian and Thief" is a presentation by Professor Lisa Moses Leff, author and acting director of academic affairs and senior vice provost at American University.
The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership, Kean University Earth Science Club, Kean School of Environmental and Sustainability Sciences (SESS) and New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability will be hosting Let’s Clear the Air: A Student-Led Symposium Wed., Nov. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the STEM Building 6th Floor to raise awareness and inspire students to take action to improve NJ’s air quality.
The Leadership Institute will be hosting a series of workshops to help students in preparations for their career goals. The Chapter After Workshops Series consists of three workshops. The three workshops are: How to Find the Right Internships, Build A Better Resume and the Seniors Tell All.

On Saturday, Nov. 10 to Sunday, Nov. 18, the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) will be hosting Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. There will be a week full of events that intend to help those that are struggling from the effects of hunger and homelessness and raise awareness for them.
