Kean University students volunteered at the Community Foodbank of New Jersey and helped pack 138 boxes of food and supplies for families suffering from food insecurity. Spring break is a free time many students look to use to deviate from the business of college life. On Monday, March 2, Kean University Peer Educators and Student Health Services held their Spring Break Safety event in the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons Learning Center, where they promoted ways for students to keep themselves out of harm's way during break.

Getting involved on campus and making a difference has many benefits. For senior Tierra Hooker, that involvement has been the gateway for many opportunities throughout her college career. Hooker has been able to balance her academics as well as maintain the many different leadership positions she currently holds on campus.

Eating healthy can be something everyone wants to do, but is unsure how to get started. In honor of Black History Month, and to help give more information for eating healthier, the National Council of Negro Women, Inc (NCNW) hosted SOULFOOD: Food for the Soul on Feb. 27. The event was centered around discussing ways to eat healthier, and what students can do to make sure they are fitting better foods into their day-to-day lives. The event took place in the Miron Student Center (MSC) from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Kean University Board of Trustees is currently looking for the next Alternate, Non-voting, Student Trustee. Students at Kean University may now begin sending in applications to fill the position. All applications must be received by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs by 2 p.m. on Friday, March 6.

March serves as Women's History Month, and within that month is the iconic, International Women's Day, taking place Sunday, March 8. To honor and celebrate this month of remembering the cultural impact women have made, many groups within the Kean community have prepared events designed to acknowledge the contributions women have made in history, and to empower the women of today to shatter the societal expectations placed on them.

The Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) hosted the Color A Smile event this past Feb. 25. The event transpired from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the newly renovated Greek Lounge, located in the Miron Student Center (MSC).

Save the date for April 17, 2020 and be a part of Kean Dance Marathon to raise money for the Children's Specialized Hospital. Last year, we raised over $50,000 and for the new decade, we plan on going even higher.

On Sunday, March 1, Kean University will host Canadian singer-songwriter Royal Wood on the Enlow Recital Hall stage. Kean Stage is promoting the concert, which will begin at 3 p.m. Ticket prices for the show range from $35 to $55.

The Lesniak Institute for American Leadership is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing future generations of leadership. The Lesniak Institute is an organization that teaches the principles of effective advocacy, by offering first-hand experience through their causes and partnering with many grassroots organizations to complete its mission for a better tomorrow.The Institute was founded by Raymond J. Lesniak, a former New Jersey State Senator. Lesniak wanted to create an institution that teaches its members action-driven advocacy for the community and the world beyond. It was founded in January 2018, with their first headquarters located in the S.T.E.M. building at Kean University.
