Telehealth

(09/04/20 12:53pm)

Telehealth and Telemedicine are terms that we have all become a little more familiar with in the last several months. When COVID-19 forced our health care facilities to transition to a remote model we had to find new ways to care for our patients remotely. The Kean Wellness Center, which includes Student Health Services (SHS) the Kean Counseling Center (KCC), Alcohol and Other Drug Services (AOD), and the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS), began using telehealth platforms to meet the needs of our students during the spring of 2020. Now as we begin to reopen our campus and welcome students back, telehealth is here to stay and is making health care even more accessible to our students.

Tips for Remote Finals Study Prep

(05/04/20 10:26pm)

As Kean University students anticipate the end of what has been, to say the least, an unconventional Spring semester, final exams remain an intellectual and psychological challenge as much as ever. The shift to remote education requires that, in addition to their usual study practices, and in place of many on-campus options, students adapt to new study skills and remain focused on their mental health, while also maintaining their own schedules, and using digital tools to stay successful.

Virtual Mental Health Week

(04/28/20 1:28am)

As the semester begins to wind down, students aren’t just experiencing the normal pressures of deadlines and final exams. Because of COVID-19, this year is different. Not only has the Kean community been thrown into a new "normal" with little preparedness, the usual ways of coping have likely been taken away due to social restrictions. It isn't just students who are feeling this squeeze; it's faculty, staff, family members, friends, counselors, and everyone one would typically rely on for support. Because of this, the Kean Counseling Center will be hosting a Virtual Mental Health Week beginning Monday, April 27 through Friday, May 1. The programming will take place on Instagram, so make sure to follow @keancounselingcenter. Each day will have a specific focus, with tips and resources related to mental health. In addition, videos showcasing Counseling Center staff, Kean University’s Active Minds Club and Kean Yoga will be posted!
