Let’s Get Our Jazz on, Cougars

Once again it is time for Kean to host the fun and vibrant Jazz and Roots Music Festival. For the second annual year there will be a FREE outdoor music festival open to the public, located at The Lawn at Enlow Hall in Hillside. Kean Student Health Services has been stretched very thin lately, as they have had to deal with only two full time staff members, two part time staff members and the hardships through the pandemic. To show her appreciation for the work the clinic did in her absence, Dr. Kristine Sparks, a family nurse practitioner, submitted the clinic for the Patriot Award.

Jump Right In- To A Good Cause

The annual Polar Plunge at Seaside Heights is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to help in supporting Special Olympics New Jersey athletes. Those who choose to participate will jump into the frigid Atlantic Ocean, one weekend during the month of February. Our very own Kean Police department were also amongst those participants!

A Civil Rights Journey

The Human Rights Institute hosted a Civil Rights Journey over spring break. The group explored historic sites in Georgia and Alabama. On their trip, students learned about the history of the civil rights movement and how to become social justice activists and advocates.

Eat, Pray, Love: The Experience

On Dec. 7, Professor Libbey’s Eat, Pray, Love section of the first-year seminar set up, Eat, Pray, Love The Experience, took place on the first floor of the Center for Academic Success (CAS) building. This event was inspired by the book, Eat, Pray, Love, a memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert about her journey to self-discovery. The mission of this event was to create an immersive experience for those who had not read the book and inspire them to go on their own journey of self-discovery.

Kean Faculty & Students Win Best Paper Award

Held on April 23 and 24, Kean’s Marketing faculty and student team presented their research to the EATA (East Asian Trade Association) Biannual International Virtual Conference and Research Symposium. Assistant professor in the School of Management and Marketing, Min Chung Han, Ph.D., senior majoring in marketing Adrian Peralta and WKU senior majoring in marketing Danwei Yang received an award for their research presentation.

Fall 2021 semester will be here before we know it and returning to campus during this time comes with mandatory measures. President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. has followed in the footsteps of other universities in NJ, requiring that students coming back to campus in the fall must be vaccinated. With this announcement brings a lot of questions about the COVID 19 vaccine and the options available.
