Hispanic Heritage Month highlights the traditions and history of the Hispanic culture and people. One popular topic of Hispanic Heritage Month is the delicious food. According to Study.com, there are many ingredients important in the dishes such as avocados, beans, limes, onions, rice, tortillas, and garlic. Besides the flavorful ingredients, family is another important aspect of the Hispanic culture. Recipes are handed down from each generation including dishes that were cooked over an open fire, steamed, or fried. Family members learn how to make dishes from scratch and keep the beautiful traditions of their culture. According to WebstaurantStore, some popular and cultural Hispanic foods include Tortilla Espanola, Empanadas, Tajadas, Ceviche, Churros, Tacos, Flan and, Tres Leches Cake. These foods are connected to Hispanic countries such as Argentina, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Mexico, and Ecuador. Although these dishes are common among Hispanic cultures, each culture puts its own spin on each dish. For instance, flan is a custard that is common in the Hispanic culture. However, Mexican flan is covered in caramel syrup while Spanish flan has a layer of scorched sugar on the bottom.

On September 21st the Meet the Greeks event took place at Harwood Arena from 6 to 10 pm. Meet the Greeks is an annual event for Kean University and is an important time for students who are interested in joining an organization to see what is the right fit for them. This event gives organizations a great opportunity to showcase who they are and what they are all about. Being in a sorority gives women the opportunity to be a part of a sisterhood that can build lifelong friendships, opportunities, and community service. As for the Greek senate, they feel amazed to see how successful Greek life is and how students are interested.

Happening at the beginning of the fall semester, the annual Meet the Greeks event took place at Harwood Arena on September 21. Meet the Greeks is a great opportunity for students to see which sororities/fraternities fit them in the long run. Of the bunch, many fraternities came out to represent their organization, engaging with students who were interested in joining, and also giving insight into who they are and what they have to offer.

On Friday, September 8, Miron Student Center Operations and Event Management hosted a successful Kean Day event from 12 - 4 p.m. Students were in their complimentary “Kean Day” T-shirts as they explored numerous groups and participated in fun activities.

On Saturday, September 2, the Kean football team hosted their first home game of the season against State University of New York (SUNY) Morrisville at the Kean Alumni Stadium. Before the game, the tailgate started at 11 a.m. in the Hardwood Arena parking lot.

On Thursday, August 31, the Kean P.U.L.S.E. Programming Board hosted a Do it Yourself (DIY) Arts Night event. The event took place at the Miron Student Center from 6 -7:30 p.m. As students walked into the student center they were greeted by members of Kean P.U.L.S.E and then went on to participate in the different activities.

On Tuesday, January 31, crowds of students came out for Kean University’s Student Involvement and Employment Fair. From 12 to 4 p.m., the chatter and laughs of students could be heard throughout the Mirson Student Center. The clubs and organizations set up tables and were ready to showcase the interesting and unique qualities of their groups.
