When I came into Kean, I was expecting my life to be very flexible and carefree: commute to Kean, attend all my classes for the day, and go back home to relax. Although I wasn't IN love with Kean at the time, I came to the realization that I needed a job that would give me the experience in the area that I wanted to -someday- work in. I was given the choice of selecting one out of two publications on-campus and -I trust my instinct- so I chose The Cougar's Byte.

As a tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month, the Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) with the sponsorship of The Student Organization of Kean University welcomed Bobby Gonzalez to the University Center Little Theater on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Gonzalez is nationally known as a multicultural motivational speaker, poet, and storyteller. Born and raised in South Bronx, New York City, Gonzalez grew up in a "bicultural environment." His blood flows of Latino (Puerto Rican) and Native American (Taino) heritage. Although both cultures are his roots, he connects more with his Taino roots.

9/11 Memorial Trip
11:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - 9/11 Memorial, NYC
On Sunday, September 15, 2013 the center for leadership and service will be hosting their annual 9/11 memorial trip to New York City. To recognize all the victims of that tragic September day, Kean University students will be given the opportunity to explore the 9/11 Memorial Museum as well as pay their respects.
The bus will depart at 11:45 a.m. from the Vaughn Eames parking lot and will return to campus by 3:30 p.m. If students are interested in attending this trip please pre-register on Cougar Link, https://kean.collegiatelink.net/form/start/26163. Please keep in mind, space is limited!

Student Identification cars are given to all Kean students to show that they are a part of the university community. Students who do not have their personal ID please stop by the third floor of the Administration Building. There is no charge for the first card issued. However, if by any chance the card is lost, stolen or damaged students must pay a $15 replacement fee.

Kean University is 100% committed to sustaining a safe campus community where students can learn and grow. Students are to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct and are encouraged to make sure that their visitors do the same. The main values of the Code are integrity, fairness, respect, community, and responsibility. When a student fails to meet these standards they are expected to review the proceedings as well as suffer the consequences that may follow. On Thursday, February 21, 2013, Professor Gloria Brown-Marshall graced the University Center Little Theater in honor of Black History Month. As soon as the clock stroked 12:30 p.m., Brown-Marshal began her presentation highlighting the meaning of civil rights, as well as two civil right cases that took place in 1955 and a recent case that took place in 2012.
