On Saturday April 29, 2017, the 31st Annual African Heritage Graduation Ceremony (AHG) was held in Wilkins Theatre. Guests were allowed in the theatre at 3:30 p.m. where the auditorium was adorned with African culture from the clothing to the music.

Friday, February 3, 2017 marked National Wear Red Day throughout the United States of America. National Wear Red Day falls on the first Friday in February, which makes this year the 15th year since the initial National Wear Red Day took place. Kean University's Center of Leadership and Service (CLS) and Student Health Services joined American Heart Association's (AHA) fight against heart disease, one of the leading causes of death in the United States.

On Monday, November 14, 2016, the Office of Student Government hosted the annual FoodBank Luncheon in Downs Hall. The FoodBank Luncheon helps raise money for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey located in Hillside, N.J. To attend the event, students had to pay $5 and faculty $10.
